Research and action

For INSULÆ, research is an active process that develops within projects.
By integrating operational experience with academic input, we transform knowledge into concrete, testable, and applicable solutions in real-world contexts.
In this perspective, we have established long-term collaborations with university teaching activities and formal agreements with design courses, fostering a continuous exchange between education and professional practice.

L@bCity Architecture

INSULÆ has been collaborating for years with L@bCity Architecture, founded and directed by Professor Renzo Lecardane of the Department of Architecture (DARCH) at the University of Palermo. This action-research group studies the transformation of cities and smaller towns through architectural design, focusing on culture as a catalyst for urban reactivation. The collaboration is implemented primarily through teaching activities (integrated teaching for the Industrial Design course, 2022/2023 academic year) and tutoring in graduate design workshops, for which the Genovese architect often serves as co-supervisor.
The theses are part of a strategic effort that L@bCity Architecture and INSULAE have been carrying out for years. The primary goal is to focus part of the company's work on local issues so as to engage recent graduates in professional development experiences.
